The first loan applicant in phase 2 successfully received her supplies from the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed between the 5 Community Mine Continuation Agreement (CMCA) women groups and MiBank.
Barbra Uako Keai from Mipan village under the Middle Fly Trust Region successfully received her stationery supplies from the Niugini Pride Stationary shop last Tuesday, 13th August after meeting the MOA requirements. Mrs. Keai got supplies worth K15, 000 from this arrangement.
This event was witnessed by the Middle Fly Momen and Childrens Association executives, Miss Charlotte Mathews and Mrs Kurina Aioge, Ok Tedi Development Foundation (OTDF) staff members, MiBank Kiunga Branch Operations Manager, Mr. George Laka, family of Mrs Keai and other general public.
Meantime the other 24 loan applicants will follow with their stock collection from various suppliers in Kiunga after successfully processing their applications and in compliance with MiBank’s requirements and the MOA guidlines.
This SME loan program with MiBank is in its second phase after seizing phase 1 MOA with National Development Bank.

THE Miamrae village under the Waitri Trust Region of the Community Mine Continuation Agreement (CMCA) in the North Fly District yesterday (Thursday, 8th August) witnessed the opening of ten new houses with all smiles as owners walked away with the keys to their new houses.
Present at the opening ceremony were the Ok Tedi Development Foundation’s (OTDFs) staff members from various divisions and the CEO, Mr. Havini Vira, OTML Bige Operations Manager, Mr. Naimen Kepan, Waitri Trust Chairlady, Miss Julie Hmentori, Alice River Trust, Mr. Dennis Kewo, VPC Chairman for Miamrae village, Mr. Tonny Wainu and others, witnessed by the community of Miamrae village and other nearby villages.
As OTDF is concerned about improving the living standards of the people, CEO for OTDF, Mr. Havini Vira highlighted the importance of having a good home as it is the foundation of the families in the communities and acknowledged the community for nominating this project.
OTML Bige Operations Manager, Mr. Naimen Kepan challenged the Miamrae VPC Chaiman, Mr. Wainu and the community.
“OTML has stayed 40 years in the province, why not do away with the bush material houses and build more of such modern houses to improve living standards of the community” Kepan said
Mr. Kepan also encouraged the community to spend money wisely and to invest in infrastructures and education as students sponsored will later become the human resource and assets of the community in the future.
Chairlady for Waitri Trust region, Miss Julie Hmentori acknowledged the support of the Miamrae community as they took the ownership and built these ten houses by making use of local resources.
VPC Chairman for Miamrae village, Mr. Tonny Wainu said the 10 houses cost K1.1 million, including all logistics and other expenses in delivering this project successfully.
“Basic supply for another 15 houses including iron sheets for roofing, walling and iron posts have arrived costing worth of K600, 000” Said Wainu
Nima Ara Momen and Childrens Association president, Miss Ruth Ukin encouraged the 20 chairladies under the Waitri trust region to organize themselves and work along with the VPCs so the Nima Ara Women and Children’s association can come in to support.
The housing project was given back to the local contractor, Mr. Jimmy Kambare and he engaged the locals by utilizing local knowledge from different technical backgrounds in carpentry, plumbery, and electrical skills acquired from Kiunga Vocational Center and other technical schools. Timber split were also from the efforts of local boys using the freehand sawmilling methods.
The complete L40 houses are equipped with a solar power system and a 2000 liters water tank.
This complete 10 house project was successfully delivered by the funds made available from the Village Planning Committee (VPC) basket through OTDF from Ok Tedi Mining Limited.

From the supplies delivered to the flood affected community in Bosset village, the community also gave a share of basic food items to the patients who are currently admitted at the hospital ward at Bosset Health Center.
Rita Romanus, a senior staff member of Bosset Health Center, told this newsroom this morning in a phone conversation that the food items given to the hospital will help the patients who are currently admitted at the ward, which happens to be from nearby villages.
Miss Romanus also confirmed that the community also gave a share of the relief supplies the hospital staff members, old people, widows, widowers, and Persons With Disabilities(PWDs) with an understanding that the flood has affected everyone.
She also thanked the stakeholders for the delivery of the relief supplies directly to Bosset village.
The rural population in Teapopo Village and nearby areas in the South Fly District can now access basic health services at their doorsteps.
The Teapopo Health Center, which has been closed for almost 30 years, was upgraded and has recently been reopened to provide basic health services.
People from this part of the province will no longer travel to Balimo or Daru to access basic health services.
As there’s so much to do in Western Province, Governor Taboi Awi Yotto believes in achieving these development goals through partnership.
He said that through partnership, the FRPG has reached unreachable communities in terms of service delivery.
“It is always satisfying and heartwarming to see the outcome of our collective effort,” Governor Yotto said
Mr. Yotto stated that he is grateful for the partnership that the FRPG has established, and he expects to build more of such facilities for other communities in the province.
Governor Yotto thanks the Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (KPHL) South Fly District Development Authrority (SFDDA), Western Provincial Administration (WPA), Western Provincial Health Authority (WPHA), Dakona Construction and other partners for the successful delivery of this project and for making it possible for his people to access health services.

The Rotarian Against Malaria(RAM) quarterly CMV supervisory visit to the existing CMV treatment sites in Kunini, Daru rural and parts of seberibamu catchment areas.
This activity will be integrated with health promotions targeting Malaria and Routine immunization awareness massages.
Brian Ambrias from UNICEF and Julie from Rotary Against Malaria (RAM) will be taking the trip together as partners to support health system strengthening in western PHA to carryout the plan activity.
This activity is in line with Western PHAs’ aims and objectives to reduce malaria and promote the importance of vaccination among communities. The activity will include:
Individual assessment on the performance of CMVs
Stock count on Malaria Commodities and replenishment on stock out items
Collect monthly data’s for Malaria
Conduct IPC skills refresher for CMVs and meeting with men/women groups to gain their support for RI/ ACSM activities in south fly district
And using the rumour tracking tool to collect any misinformation and barriers to immunization and malaria, information collected will be shared with the public health team to decide on possible solutions and strategies to improve our interventions.
Villages are urged to prepare for the actual Patrol, which will be conducted on the 25th – 31st of October to ensure better co-operation and support shown by the community.
Therefore, women, community, and church leaders from respective villages and Malaria CMVs must be ready to meet with the team.

More than 5000 plus catholic believers in St. Peter’s parish celebrate the parish feast day of there patron saint.
The 3 days feast has started today June 29 and will end on July 1. The feast is attended by the outstations of St. Peter’s Parish and friends from other denominations.
Today marks the parish to be 60 years old. The parish was established in 1953 which is the current station at Boset in Middle Fly District.
The 3 days feast will include bible study, bible quiz, and other items like drama, musical dance and many more.
During the outdoor opening mass of the 3 days event, 64 candidates also received the The Sacrament of Communion and 8 candidates were baptized at the same time.
Meantime, the celebration is currently underway and is expected to be continue till 10pm.

North Fly villages along the Kiunga-Tabubil Highway will have access to Kiunga town power supply.
The construction work has begun and is taking place for the first phase of Kiunga to Tabubil-Power supply distribution lines to light up North Fly.
The first phase will be from Kiunga Township to Kilometer 17. The second phase will be from Kilometer 17 to Rumginae Station then continue on as funds are made available.
Western Governor, Hon. Taboi Awi Yotto thanks those who have been faithful paying their power bills and with those profits, Fly River Provincial Government(FRPG) was able to connect new customers.
The funding source for the power extension project for Phase 1 and 2 came from the funds generated by FRPG owned Generator which is managed by Ok Tedi Power in Kiunga.
Yotto also thanks the hard working staff of Ok Tedi Power for managing this FRPG owned asset and for extending the service.
He said, future plans will follow as the sealing of Kiunga-Tabubil highway is completed. Currently the road is being sealed, they started from Kiunga and will finish in Tabubil and later will connect the power supply from the Ok Menga Hydro power Grid down to Kiunga through the support of the Tax Credit Sceme(TCS).

WITH the increase in number of child abuse rates within the country according to researches carried out by the Save the Children Papua New Guinea, workshop and training have been conducted in others parts of Papua New Guinea educate and highlight the the offences or abuses against children and Western Province is privileged to me one of the provinces.
A two weeks workshop was hosted by Save the Children PNG(SCPNG) at Four Square Church area in Kiunga, Western Province to educate the participants on positive parenting, knowing the children’s rights, roles and responsibilities within the community and solutions to address the issue.
A total of 23 participants have underwent the two weeks training from three villages in North Fly; Tarakbits, Membok and Iowara and it was facilitated by Owen Suanga, Child Protection Coordinator and Emma David, Child Protection Technical Advisor.
The training was based on different age groups of children, types of abuses and the rights of children within the family and communities.
The participants or advocaters will have sessions with selected number of families back in the communities and educate parents and caregivers the children’s rights, different types of abuses known to the parents and caregivers and the act that governs the children.
The participants also did group work and presentations within the sessions as trainers observed to see if the they have understood what they learnt.
Mrs. Emma David, said they have covered 8 topics within 10 sessions. The sessions were based on positive parenting, child, parents or caregivers roles and responsibilities within the family and communities.
David said, both parents are encouraged to attend this trainings back at homes so the parents have fair understanding of their children’s rights and responsibilities.
She said she is very happy to work alongside the participants from the Iowara refugee camp as it is their first time to involve them in such trainings.
Meantime, Mrs. David with her counterpart, Mr. Suanga also traveled to Mougulu Station and facilitated the same workshops and the team are now in Daru conducting the workshop.

A shop serving rural communities went up in flames in Kiunga, Western Province last night.
This shop is locally known as MABEN TRADING which burnt to ashes.
Residents in town and nearby settlements rushed to the site but could not contain the fire as the whole building was already engulfed in high flames.
The fire started at 8:30pm and lasted for two hours causing structural damage to the building.
The security officers saw the smoke coming out from inside the shop and tried to alert the owners but it was already too late for them.
It is understood Internet and phone services were out as of yesterday in Western Province and there was no network to call for help.
This resulted in K100,000.00 worth of items were lost due to the fire.
Mechanical materials, hardware items among others including PNG Air’s ticketing sales agent office space were all burnt down.
Security officers told FM100/Hot97 FM News today they are not sure as to the cause of the fire. So far no causalties have been reported.
Clean up operations of the debris is underway as investigation is continuing to establish the cause of the fire.
Residents in Kiunga have raised their concerns for the need of a fire truck and additional communication facility be established in town to attend to such situations.
In recent years, similar cases have been reported in town but there have never been any fire trucks staged in town for such situations.
Residents are now calling on the leaders of both the Fly River Provincial Government and District to look into this matter so that fire emergency cases in the future can be attended to on time.
It was a sad moment for the families, workmates and Western Provincial Administration as a whole as they farewell 6 public servants from various divisions within the provincial administration for their service.
The event was attended by families, workmates, staff members from various divisions, and dignitaries from the District and Provincial Administration on Monday at New Century Hotel in Kiunga.
The eight retirees made known their retirement intentions end of last year.
The retirees are; Mr. Jimmy Woia, Mr. David Sonny, Ms. Caroline Bani, Mr. Wilfred Gaso, Mr. Phillip Gasuat, Ms. Bugon Katet,
Mr. Jimmy Woia, served 49 years of service to the Papua New Guinea Public Service as a Public Servant with the Teaching Service Commission, Catholic Education Agency and retired as a Coordinator Community Government Relations Officer with the Western Provincial Administration. He served from July 22 in year 1975 to November, 25 year 2022.
Mr. David Soni, served 44 years to the Papua New Guinea Public Service as a Public Servant with the Department of Primary Industries, Inspector Village Court, and retired as a Provincial Disaster Officer with the Western Provincial Administration in November 2022.
Ms. Caroline Bani served 28 years of service to the Papua New Guinea Public Service as a Public Servant with the Western Provincial Administration from 1994 to November, 2022. She served the department of transport and civil aviation as a clerk, Western Provincial Planning Division, Finance and retired as finance and accounting officer.
Mr. Wilfred Gaso served 44 years of service to the Papua New Guinea Public Service as a Public Servant with Milne Bay and Western Provincial Administration from 1978 to the 28th of November, 2022. He served the department of agriculture in Milne Bay Province, District Planner for South Fly and retired as a deputy provincial administrator for Western Province
Mr. Philip Gasuat served 48 years of service to the Papua New Guinea Public Service as a Public Servant with Teaching Service, Department of Defence, Milne Bay and Western Provincial Administration. He joined Western Provincial Administration on June 23, 1996 and retired in December 28, 2022.
Ms. Bugon Katet, has served 29 years of service to the Papua New Guinea Public Service as a Public Servant with the Western Provincial Administration from October 17, 1993 to the 25th of November, 2022. She was attached with LLG Affairs and retired as an admin officer with the Kiunga Rural LLG.
Keynote speaker and provincial administrator for Western Province Mr. Robert Alphonse Kayun encouraged the public servants to at least retire early and enjoy their entitlements rather working to old age or death catches along the way and entitlements are enjoyed by the children which is not rightfully their children’s.
“Your departure is a big loss to the administration now as it is hard to find skilled and experienced people” Mr. Kayun said
Mr. Kayun thanked and wished the retirees best of luck in their retirement and future endeavours.
Mr. Kayun on behalf of the department of personal management also issued certificates of service to retirees.
Meantime, Mr. Kaiomen Ningin, Human Resource Manager for Western Provincial Administration said the similar farewell party will also be organized for public servants in Daru.
The farewell party was organized by the Western Provincial Human Resource Division as a sign of appreciation to the retirees.

Reverend Mase Wodia from the Evangelical Church of Papua New Guinea (ECPNG) in North Fly District who attended the event, conducted the dedicatory prayers for all to commence this 2023 academic year.
“All blessings, wisdom, knowledge and understanding comes from God so it is best we must committ our lives to God.” he said.
Students have been urged to be faithful in delivering health services in Western Province after completing their studies.
Rumginae Nursing School’s principal Mr Amos Kupaloma thanked all for participating in the dedication service.
He said dedicating health services would help students and tutors who are health professionals to deliver effective clinical services .
“You will be needed most in your work because patients are always in need of medical assistance in all villages and health facilities.” said Mr Kupaloma.
Mr Kupaloma clarified that most students enrolled in this institution are from Western Province and only few were from other provinces within the country that would help students to build their careers in health profession.
Out of the 100 students, 34 were CHW new intakes, 35 continuing CHW students and 33 were new intakes to undergo Diploma in General Nursing program.
Students were encouraged to gain their skills and knowledge during their course of studies in Rumginae to deliver better health services.
Over 800 Community Health Workers (CHW) are being produced in Rumginae since the establishment of the CHW Training School in early 1968.
Run by Evangelical Church of Papua New Guinea (ECPNG) agency, CHW Training School has now changed into Rumginae Nursing College commencing this year which will offer both the two years certificate program and three years Diploma in General Nursing program.
The Kiunga District Hospital in North Fly District recorded no major casualties on new year eve as confirmed by the hospital.
The staff on duty at the Out Patient Department (OPD) said there were no emergency cases recorded on new year eve.
The hospital staff said there was only one minor casualty which was alcohol related.
The man who sustained minor injuries was from Kokonda village at the outskirts of Kiunga township.
According to the man’s wife, she said her husband went out drinking with his wantoks which turn out to having her husband sustaining minor injuries on his head.
The patient was admitted at the OPD and was discharged at around 10am yesterday just when the media were at the hospital vicinity to get updates from the hospital.
Meantime, the new year eve in Kiunga was peaceful with less number of drunkards on the streets as Kiunga Police maintained their operations and kept everything under control.
The liquor ban is still effective until tomorrow, Tuesday, January 3 in which outlets are authorized to go back to normal business operations as given a ban notice by the Chairman- Fly River Provincial Liquor Licensing Commission & Board and Provincial Administrator for Western Province, Mr. Robert Alphonse Kayun.
With no major crimes reported in North Fly District over the festive season, the Kiunga Police today made a public law and order awareness at the Kiunga Main Market area to ensure public safety was maintained on the New Year eve.
Provincial Police Commander for North Fly Command, Snr Inspector, Oena Afeke urged the community to maintain peace and harmony within their communities during the new year eve.
He further stressed that public safety is everyone’s concern and should report minor crimes or illegal activities before it leads to serious issues.

LOTIC Group of Companies a local landowner company based in Kiunga in North Fly District of Western Province held its 4th successful Rugby 7s tournament for the youth of Western Province.
Over 240 youths representing 17 teams from villages of Western Province mainly from Kiunga along Tabubil highway took part in the one day tournament at Kiunga main oval last Saturday December 17.
More than three hundred plus spectators witnessed the event showing support to their family members taking part.
Awards and cash prizes were given to the teams placing First, Second and Third. In the women’s division, the Cup was won by the Mepu Blacks, Plate winner was MXM and the Bowl winner was LOTIC Heliconias while in the men’s division, the Kwire Pukpuks walked away with the Cup, the plate was won by Maganis and Bowl winner was Mepu Blacks.
Best player of the tournament was Kesa Uladu for Mens from the KSS Dragons team while in the women’s segment it was Anna Tabi from the Mepu Black team.
LOTIC as host provided refreshments, water, lunch to all the participating teams.
LOTIC with support from its business partners who came forward to sponsor provided rugby ball, rugby jursy, short, stockings and boots to all participating teams.
Chief Executive Officer of LOTIC Group of Companies, Mr. Anthony Amerasinghe in his speech to the community at the Kiunga main oval on saturday stated that he is working to register the tournament with the PNG Rugby Union Federation so the tournament will give opportunity for young men and women to be selected from Western Province to take part in the national competition.

Member James Donald, North Fly District Administrator, Mr. Greg Isau and the Fly River Provincial Government, Office of Western Province Governor, Hon. Taboi Awi Yotto and Provincial Administrator, Mr. Robert Alphonse Kayun to upgrade and maintain the Kiunga Main Oval to the national standards under Private Public Partnership(PPP) so that general public and partners take responsibility of the investment by the local government. The oval will be upgraded not only for Rugby but also for other sports like the athletics.
LOTIC as a local company is looking forward to support all sports by bringing coaches from the national and international level to support the development of sports not only in the North Fly district but Western Province as a whole.
Mr. Amerasinghe also thanked the general public for witnessing the tournament and for showing support towards their family members talking part in the tournament.
He also stated that LBL usually hosts such tournament every year but was disturbed by the Covid-19 pandemic and didn’t have such tournament in years 2020 and 2021 but this year’s tournament was a successful one together with the previous years hosted in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Mr. Amerasinghe also encouraged the youths to prepare themselves for the next year’s annual tournament.
The purpose of the tournament is to support the community and as LOTIC being the local company, its obligation is to support the communities in various angles and to grow with community.
CMCA Leaders in a Media Conference at Kiunga on Sunday
In response to the actions taken by the few Mine Landowners on Friday, 16 December the CMCA community leaders representing the 150, 0000 people from the various trust regions have raised their concerns regarding the roadblocks done but the landowners in the mine area at the Finalbin Village which has stopped the day’s production.
The CMCA community leaders strongly oppose the actions of the few mine landowners that disrupted the production on Friday, 10 December at Finalbin village. The minority group led by named people do not represent the views of the CMCA communities who are part owners of the OTML.
In a media statement, the CMCA leaders, they want to measure their position to the public to ensure OTML as a company is protected and good governance is restored.
The CMCA leaders demand the following; (1) The OTML Board and management be allowed to manage the company without any political interference. OTML is different to all the SOEs and must not br treated like those SOEs.
(2) The OTML board to proceed with the recruitment of a new Management Director/CEO and the successful candidate be approved on Meditation. We prefer about expartriate be considered to maintain neutrality.
(3) Kedi Llimbit must not be reinstated or be appointed as Managing Director/CEO since he has compromised himself. His return will not be in the best interest of the company.
(4) OTML management ensure that first preference for contracts are given to impacted communities through the umbrella companies and not given to those that are not impacted by OTML’s operations.
(5) The community Mine Continuation Agreement(CMCA) Review be brought forward to next year to negotiate a new benefits package.
In the statement, they further stated that they have the right to make these demands since we have given our consent for the mine continue operating knowing that our livelihoods will be impacted well beyond mine closure. We therefore expect that the board and management be allowed to and perform their roles without any undues external influence.

The Middle Fly Catholic Youths Convention is progressing well as it continues to its third day of its programmed activities.
The day began with a morning mess as usual then went into the days sessions.
Facilitator for the morning sessions and Diocesan Youth Coordinator, Mr. Ambie James discussed vocation with the youths. The youths gave Mr. James some very meaningful answers to the word “Vocation” under the Catholic doctrine.
Under the Catholic doctrine, vocation is a call from God to carryout his work and such calls are inner voices and are only heard and answered by our decisions.
Parish priest for St. Bertila Parish, Fr. Hubert Nekiri elaborated further on vocation and the challenges met along the way. He said, this calls are very special and it is carried out lifetime as a mission.
Fr. Hubert also shared his experiences that he faced and went through along the way to priesthood.
Meantime, the Youths will continue with ball games as their afternoon activities as part of their program and will end it with a night session.

The day started off with a morning prayer led by the St. Peter’s Youth of Bosset then continued on with the day’s session.
Facilitators of the second day program were Parish Priest of St. Bertila, Fr. Hubert Nekiri and Br. Gills Ken, Diocesan Child Protection Officer.
Fr. Hubert highlighted the duties of the church towards the youths and the responsibilities a church plays for the youths.
He discussed with the youths a letter from the Pope in their Parish groups highlighting some of the very important roles of youths involvement in church activities. Upon the discussion, he asked the representatives from each groups to do presentations.
The groups came up with so many good answers about the barriers that affect youths back in their parishes in terms of church or other activities involvement.
Br. Gills Ken is his session stated to the youths that Children are silent majority that needs the parents and other individual’s (care providers) attention. He also said no child should walk through life unprotected.
“Every child protection moment starts at conception and continues through pregnancy and up to the age of 18” Said Ken
He further stated that the traditional methods of raising children is not similar than today’s world. Children are exposed to technology and that is that fact happening right now.
Br. Gill also stated that as families living christian lives, parents are required to teach their children christian principles.
Meantime, the second day program came to an end with ball games and will continue with the night activities.

A local landowner company based in Kiunga, Lotic Bige Limited(LBL) has handed back an ambulance vehicle belonging to Ningerum Health Center last Friday, after being in a minor road accident with LBL vehicle somewhere along Kiunga-Tabubil highway.
The ambulance vehicle belonging to Ningerum Health Center ran in a minor minor accident earlier this year with an LBL vehicl1e and based on the damages caused, LBL as a local company came up with an agreement with the Ningerum Health Center to service the vehicle and carry out maintenance work on the vehicle.
LBL at its own expense serviced the vehicle and did proper registration and all the required stickers for the vehicle to be back on the road.
Chief Executive Officer for LBL, Mr. Anthony Amerasinghe said, As LBL is a local company and Ningerum coming under Lower Ok Tedi Trust Region, the company came in and assisted with the vehicle registration and the company also carried out maintenance work and replaced new tyre sets, replaced the broken windows and did panel beating.
” It took the company alot of time and expense as the ambulance vehicle was not properly registered and I had to go to Port Moresby and register the vehicle with Motor Vehicle Insurance Limited(MVIL) and put on safety stickers” Amerasinghe said
North Fly District Health Manager, Mr Roddy Ukin thanked LBL for the continuous support towards the North Fly District Health Authority.
Present at the hand over ceremony was Sr. Bidawa Amoko, Sister-In-Charge and Avenon Deknong, CHW and Ambulance Driver of Ningerum Health Center, North Fly District Health Manager, Mr. Rody, Ukin, President for Ningerum LLG, Mr. Keane Kukinai and management staff of LLG at the LBL yard.
Meantime, Mr. Amerasinghe further stated to work alongside the North Fly District Health Authority (NFDHA) and Kiunga District Hospital as LBL also has a clinic practicing as Western Medical Center in Kiunga.

YOUTHS of St. Bertila Parish of Daru-Kiunga Diocese in Ioara Station hosts a 5 days youths convention.
Over 200 plus youths form various parishes within the diocese gathered at St. Bertila Parish in Ioara to attend the 5 days Youths convention based on a theme “Young People be open and responsible”
The hosting parish warmly welcomed youths representatives from St. John’s Parish(Matkomnai), St. Paul’s(Nomad), St. Peter’s (Bosset) and the Kiunga town parishes, St. Brigid’s and St. Gerard’s.
The program is hosted from Monday, 26th to Friday, 30th September.
The objective of this convention is to bring young people from three parishes together in communion to participate in spiritual, mentally and social activities. This will help them gain confidence and take responsibilities in church, community and country as a whole.
Among the 200 plus youths attending the convention are 15 invited youths from other denominations(New Apostolic Church and ECPNG).
Young Women and Men were grouped into Four Groups to do activities and presentations for the five day event.
As it is a church organized event, each day begin with a morning mass and they continue on with the activities programmed for each day and ends with a rosary prayer then the night activities.
Former Youth President for St. Brigid Town Parish, Mr. Bosco Salulen from his previous experience said, they usually have sports, prayer gathering, entertainments (video shows,drama plays..etc) Bible Quiz, Sharing the word of God and on the last day, youths exchange gifts as significance of the event.
Present at the convention are; Mr. Ambie James, Diocesan Youth Coordinator, Mr. Gills Ken, Diocesan Child Protection Officer, Mr. Raphael Dalsep, Diocesan Men’s Coordinator and Parish Priest for St. Bertila & Diocesan Priest, Fr. Hubert Nekiri.
Mr. James explained the policies and guidelines of being a Catholic Youth under the Catholic Bishops Conference (CBC) of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands.
Youths will be taught their roles and responsibilities of being a church youth, responsibilities do as future parents, responsibilities of children within the family and many more.
Meantime, the Middle Fly Catholic Youths Convention kicked off well and will continue on with the planned activities at the ST. Bertila Mission Station grounds in Iowara Station.
