North Fly villages along the Kiunga-Tabubil Highway will have access to Kiunga town power supply.
The construction work has begun and is taking place for the first phase of Kiunga to Tabubil-Power supply distribution lines to light up North Fly.
The first phase will be from Kiunga Township to Kilometer 17. The second phase will be from Kilometer 17 to Rumginae Station then continue on as funds are made available.
Western Governor, Hon. Taboi Awi Yotto thanks those who have been faithful paying their power bills and with those profits, Fly River Provincial Government(FRPG) was able to connect new customers.
The funding source for the power extension project for Phase 1 and 2 came from the funds generated by FRPG owned Generator which is managed by Ok Tedi Power in Kiunga.
Yotto also thanks the hard working staff of Ok Tedi Power for managing this FRPG owned asset and for extending the service.
He said, future plans will follow as the sealing of Kiunga-Tabubil highway is completed. Currently the road is being sealed, they started from Kiunga and will finish in Tabubil and later will connect the power supply from the Ok Menga Hydro power Grid down to Kiunga through the support of the Tax Credit Sceme(TCS).
