With no major crimes reported in North Fly District over the festive season, the Kiunga Police today made a public law and order awareness at the Kiunga Main Market area to ensure public safety was maintained on the New Year eve.
Provincial Police Commander for North Fly Command, Snr Inspector, Oena Afeke urged the community to maintain peace and harmony within their communities during the new year eve.
He further stressed that public safety is everyone’s concern and should report minor crimes or illegal activities before it leads to serious issues.
“Youth, tomorrow is yours, we are concerned of you because you are the future leaders of this country, let’s all make Kiunga Town or North Fly a better place to live in” Afeke said
Kiunga Town Mayor, Mr. Mike Ofia under his leadership with the 6 urban ward councilors will ensure to work alongside the police to maintain public safety for everyone.
Meantime, normal police operations are expected to carried out on the new year’s eve to ensure safety for everyone.
